Last week, Audible.com, one of our favorite audio books site, launched Audible author services , a program designed to encourage authors to work directly with the site to promote their books. In exchange for license rights to the audio performance of their books directly with Audible, the site authors will pay $ 1 for each book sold audio. The fund of $ 20 million dollars will pay a fee to authors for the sales by Audible.com, iTunes and Audible.co.uk until the end of 2012, and perhaps more, if the program succeeds.
In addition to fees for authors, Audible Author Services works to help writers to promote the audio versions of their books across platforms, including providing links, audio samples and banners to use on social media, blogs and websites. Sound hopes that this program will encourage authors to devote the same attention to the promotion of audio versions of their work they are doing for the promotion of hard copies. Fortunately, it will also help grow their already considerable Audible library, making more and more titles available for listeners.
