A: You'll need to keep your mobile service contract. Vonage Extensions is designed to allow you to enjoy your existing domestic and international rates with Vonage for outgoing calls you place on another home, or mobile phone. Many users like Vonage Extensions mainly because it allows them to make international calls at low prices on a cell phone.
To make calls, Vonage Extensions uses either a WiFi or 3G connection to establish communication with the application Vonage Extensions on a phone or iPhone or Android dials an access number, as you would manually with a calling card. If you are in a WiFi zone, Vonage Extensions will not use minutes from your mobile plan to set up the call, but depending on your mobile plan, you will probably use up regime minutes during the conversation as if appeal was a regular household. For this reason, Vonage Extensions needs a regular mobile plan to run on a cell phone. Should you disconnect your mobile, you will not be able to make calls. In addition, Vonage extensions can make outgoing calls: The service can not receive incoming calls or send text messages. For these services, you will continue to use your existing mobile phone service.
For iPhone and Android, the Vonage Mobile application is another option. This application allows users to talk and text for free with other people who have the application, but it can not receive calls from people who do not have the application and it requires a 3G or 4G data connection or access to a WiFi network to make or receive calls.
