A: Today ' hui, you have two choices of major formats when using audio books: MP3 and CD . What is the best choice for you and your husband depends on what equipment you already have and where you want to listen to your audio books.
MP3 files can be downloaded directly to your computer, which is an advantage over the CD that should be shipped. You can listen to the files on the computer, which does not require additional equipment in addition to a computer with speakers or a pair of headphones, or you can put the files on an MP3 player or burn to CD, if you want to play in your car or while you are doing something away from the computer. The most popular brand of MP3 player is the iPod today, but there are many other brands and models available, some for under $ 50. Your husband could then put the MP3 audio books that he would listen to the MP3 player and take it with him wherever he likes. Our favorite services MP3 audio books is Audible.com and eMusic, but you will also find downloadable audio books on iTunes and at Barnes and Noble.
audio books on CD will work much like the cassettes you may have used in the past years. We really liked Booksfree.com and Simply Audiobooks, both of which allow you to rent books on CD. You will need to wait for discs to arrive, which is a small drawback with downloadable MP3 files, but once you have the CD, you can play them on a CD player, including your car or a portable player such as a Discman.
