Q :? Does Carbonite back up your files once a year or does it periodically

A: Great question! When you install Carbonite on your computer, it will give you the choice to save all of your documents / files and settings to the user or to select the files you want to backup. If you want more than your documents / settings and saved user files (which do not include e-mail), we suggest you choose the option that allows you to select files to back up. You can always add files to save at any time once Carbonite installed.

Once you choose the files you want to backup, Carbonite will do once all inclusive backup all files, transfer all your files encrypted on a secure network. After all files are on Carbonite servers, the system will continue to save all the new versions of these files if you make changes to them. The software uses Shadowcopy Service Volume, which maintains a copy of the files you have opened so they can easily be stored once they are changed. And the best part is that all of the backup service Carbonite run quietly in the background, so you never have to worry about backups interrupting your work.
