Q: [business VoIP provider] Vocalocity be used with a regular telephone to a business location
A: The short answer to this question is no. You can not use a regular phone with Vocalocity. The long answer is a bit more complicated.
We have recently covered some VoIP phones compatible databases NextAdvisor in our guide to VoIP equipment. While many VoIP services send home analog phone adapters users (ATAS) so they can use their existing phones with the service, the business VoIP services operate almost exclusively with IP phones.
Vocalocity suggests that users buy a few IP phone models from Cisco, Polycom, Panasonic, Yealink and Counterpath. You can find more information about the recommended phones Vocalocity here. Because Vocalocity uses language (SIP) Session Initiation Protocol in its system, your phone must also use SIP to work with the service. Traditional phones can not work with this language.
If you select one of the phones recommended by Vocalocity, they can help you set up and solve all problems. It is possible that other IP phones would work with the service, but Vocalocity currently does not offer support for them to check their list before buying a phone to go with Vocalocity service.
